Friends of the Global Fight Welcomes Linda Woolley as New Board Member

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C., December 2, 2016 — Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Friends) announced today that Linda Woolley has been elected to the Board of Directors. Ms. Woolley brings more than 20 years of executive leadership and management experience to Friends’ Board. She most recently established the Trustworthy Accountability Group to combat online fraud, malware and piracy.

In her new role as a Board Member of Friends, Ms. Woolley will help guide the organization’s work to advocate for U.S. support of the Global Fund, and the goal to end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Since 2002, 20 million lives have been saved through the Global Fund partnership, and there are one-third fewer deaths from AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in countries where the Global Fund invests. The Global Fund’s current Replenishment funding cycle is projected to save 8 million more lives; avert 300 million new HIV, tuberculosis and malaria infections; and produce up to $290 billion in economic gains in countries where the partnership invests.

“The Friends Board of Directors looks forward to working with Linda; she is an important addition to the team,” said Jonathan Klein, Board Chair of Friends and Co-founder and Chairman of Getty Images. “Her depth of experience in the private sector – coupled with her expertise in leadership and management – will support Friends’ important vision of ending the epidemics of AIDS, TB and malaria. This goal not only saves lives, but expands economic and trade opportunities, as well as supports U.S. global health security.”

Ms. Woolley previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) where she created and executed a new strategic plan for the world’s largest trade association for data-driven marketers. Before DMA, Ms. Woolley founded and managed all activities for Legislaw Consulting, a public affairs and government relations firm. As the firm’s principal, she worked with clients from a broad spectrum of industries, including healthcare, transportation, banking and defense. As the Director of ITT Industries’ Washington office, Ms. Woolley served as the chief spokesperson for the company regarding all its D.C. activities.

“We are very happy to have Linda join Friends’ Board of Directors,” said Chris Collins, President of Friends. “Linda’s successful track record as an executive and convener across the private sector will be extremely valuable in building support for the Global Fund and its mission.”

“I am thrilled to join the Board of Friends of the Global Fight and to help this important and world-class organization achieve its mission,” said Ms. Woolley. “Ending the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria is one of the most important things our society can do.”
